Paul says “follow me.” We know the Apostle Paul said,
“that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain” (Acts 28:20).
He equates this to “the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers” (Acts 26:6) also the hope of the Gospel, of salvation, of eternal life. Our hope. A hope without which we are “aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise” (Eph 2:12).
The modern reality of where the promises made to the Fathers is illustrated on the map.
At Shechem Abraham was promised he and his seed would be given the land (Genesis 12:6-7). Between Bethel and Hai Abraham is promised the land that he could see would be given to him and his seed forever. On a clear day on a mountain we may see approx. 60km (39miles). He went to live Hebron where he bought land (Gen. 13:3-18).
At Saveh near Salem (Jerusalem) God says to Abraham he would give him and his seed “this land.”
Isaac is promised the land would be given to him and his seed at Gerar (Gen. 26:3-6).
Jacob (Israel) was promised the land would be given to him and his seed at Bethel (Gen. 28:13-19).
When we read ‘mountains of Israel’ in the Bible it means the ancient heartlands of Israel, Judah and Shomron (Judea and Samaria). They are the heart of the Promised Land, once called the Holy Land.
In the modern world the Holy Land and Promised Land became the “the disputed territory” see this map by the Jerusalem Centre for Public Affairs.
