The committee were discussing yesterday evening the amazing stuxnet ‘worm’ which affected Iran’s nuclear program, which is estimated to have begun to work in June 2010. Then we noticed it was in our readings for the day of June 17, and we wondered if there was a connection.
Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. (Isa. 41:14)
This morning, I found a worm struggling in the excess water on the saucer/tray of the Peace Lily plant on the table beside where I always keep my Bible. I’ve never seen any worm before though I’ve had the plant now six months. It somehow got though the very compacted soil and the tiny holes of the base of the self watering pot, then through the water and then out over the overflow onto the saucer. As it was struggling and curled up I took it and put it in the pot.
While the scripture is our first motivation, another reason we began thinking of a building to help to encourage more Jews to come to the Mountains of Israel is because of the clear meaning of the US imposed building freeze in Judea and Samaria. The US government at the same time was counting housing starts as a indicator of its own economic health, so they knew they were going to have a serious impact, and the impact was intended. It became clear to Jews that the intent was to remove Jews, which is the only reason to stop them building even in built up areas with already thousands of people. Jews were being made to suffer and they were reviled even by some of their own. There is a delusion, which is a deliberate ploy, that if Jews would leave the mountains and Jerusalem, then Arabs, and the world, would be peaceful.
Jews in Samaria and Judea live under threat of war as they have always but now there is in addition international pressure to force them to give up their land, bought by Jewish benefactors or the JNF, and then won with precious blood, and lands they have brought back with the sweat of labour from stony neglected ground. And many in this region have made a huge sacrifice of giving up a comfortable life to answer God’s call to go to live there. But these events are all for a reason,
When I have bent Judah for me, filled the bow with Ephraim, and raised up thy sons, O Zion, against thy sons, O Greece, and made thee as the sword of a mighty man. (Zechariah 9:13)
Have you noticed how the USA administration buildings and those of Europe and Russia are dominated by Greek architecture?
The world once again thinks it fashionable to, in often subtle ways, revile Jews, because they wish to deny the God of the Bible: Thou worm Jacob. There is another twist as the word “worm” in Isaiah 41 is tola’at and it is the deep crimson scarlet used to dye cloth, the colour of royalty. Thus that worm in death, dyes cloth and becomes a symbol of royalty.
But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. (Psa 22:6)
and we remember it is the enemies who say,
“He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.” (Psa 22:8)
